The WEIRD project aims to exploit and to improve WiMAX technology, in a networks heterogeneous architecture. One of the principal innovations in WEIRD is the design and the development of the networks elements to support QoS in WiMAX networks. My work concerns this field and in particular the Admission Control problem in WiMAX networks. My scope is to analyze and to design an architecture to offer QoS to final user. This architecture, in a uniform and standardized way, offers to the user the resources for the needed service. My approach begins from the study of the actual State of the Art in WiMAX technology and research projects, and it arrives to propose an architecture that is independent from the hardware and form operative system, but it is specialize in WiMAX technology.
Grado di Innovazione:
The innovative aspect of my thesis can be summury as the design of an architecture, general, simple and effective, that allows QoS in WiMAX network. The architecture extends the convergency layer to support WiMAX. In order to do this I made some choices different form the actual standards, especially WiMAX Forum.
