Descrizione:
With this thesis I aim to give my contribution to the philosophical discussion of the “most frustrating and unyielding of problems”, as Robert Nozick described it: the issue of free will.
In particular, my work is focused on a theoretical proposal that in recent times is having a flourishing development, namely the theory of Agent Causation. The borders of my research are defined by the question: is the theory of Agent Causation conceptually coherent and theoretically useful?
I try to provide an answer through a critical analysis of a version of that theory as is formulated by Timothy O’Connor, professor of Philosophy at Indiana University and one of the most representative advocates of Agent Causation in the contemporary philosophical debate.
